This is gonna be long. :D
Day One
Elspeth and Me!Was a bit apprehensive since I've no friends who were in the same morning shift and location as me. And my usher supervisor made us report to him one hour early.
In the end, he ended up being the one who was late. >.<
It was raining cats and dogs so Elspeth and I were forced to wear our poncho after one of the security guys asked us whether we're waterproof. -.-
It was hilarious when the poncho reached down to our ankles while it went around the kneecaps for the taller guys.
Our security guard with our usher supervisor Yash! Was messy since there were no meal coupons, pouches and we weren't briefed on where exactly each location was. We were then sent to our stations without any prior knowledge. Nothing.
And guess what? With luck, Elspeth and my first 'customer' was a total bitch.
He's a big burly ang moh with his asian child and when we couldn't answer his questions, he rolled his eyes and said sarcastically 'Oh I expected this'.
I wanted to retort that he's rude but I bit my tongue. I mean I wouldn't want to give him a bad impression of us Singaporeans right? Plus, even though he's rude, it was our fault in the first place for not being familiar with our surroundings.
I still think he's a stuck-up bitch anyway and felt sorry for his poor kid.
I have no idea why a pompous snob like him could have such a sweet daughter. Unless of course it's not his child.
The grandstands!
My station A10!Day Two
Group photoReported to the staff canteen as usual. While waiting for Yash, we started chatting with the other ushers. Correction. They chatted while I listened quietly.
They asked me why I was silent, I just shrugged and said it's in my nature.
Lol then they commented that the silent type of girls is good wife material.
Don't ask me why the topic changed from 'What school are you from?' to marriage.
The only guy in our group of four, Keith, said he wouldn't want a chatty wife nagging at him all the time. Is that true though? I wondered to myself.
Oh man it was hawt hawt hawt outside.
It's like stepping into an oven when we reached the grandstands.
Lucky Elspeth and me got stationed at A10 right under the expressway so we have some shade. And low and behold we started to cam-whore. Like how could we not when we're in the highly sought-after circuit park? ^^
Lewis Hamilton making a turn
Ferrari Merchandise ShopLOL and something amusing happened. Some girls from A6 and A7 asked us to take a big group photo. We agreed even though we don't know them.
Turns out they have 'ulterior motives' lol.
There were two cute guys in our usher group and they wanted to take pics with them but were too shy to ask them directly. So they used the
BIG GROUP PHOTO as an excuse hahaha. No wonder.. we felt like very bright lightbulbs there and then. :)
On the way home, Elspeth and I started talking about this and she sighed when she mentioned Keith. Cuz he's one of the cute guys who is super super nice I tell you.
She lamented that he doesn't smoke nor drink, is good-looking, humourous and nice but too bad he's already attached. and how good guys are hard to find nowadays.
I have to agree with her. The good guys all have girlfriends ffs!
Day Three
Hot 'chicks' :DAnother day with the smothering heat.
We started to gossip again.
Cassandra: Hey look! The camwhoring girls from ytd!
Elspeth: ooh wait they ask you for your msn.
Keith: *shudders* No thanks.
Me: *laughs*
Elspeth: Aiyah, they will get it if you put a pic of you and your gf.
Cassandra: Yeah.. but that wouldn't work against shameless girls.
Elspeth: Then you can tell your gf about it to prevent misunderstandings.
Cassandra: Better yet! Ask your gf to add them on msn lors!
And all four of us cracked up.
Seriously I had so much fun listening to them. =^-^=
We decided to work overtime in order to catch the Night Race.
The smell of the burnt tires, the roar of the engines and the lightings..everything was amazing. I enjoyed myself especially when the cars crashed.
Everyone was like 'Ooooh'
Went down to the racing track with Woan Jen and Zi Yun to take pics of Ferrari and the pitstop. One guy requested to take a pic of us and said that the ushers really helped him a lot and he was able to find his way around all because of their help. Made me wish that I was one of those who helped him when he smiled genuinely.
Initially I was very discouraged when I met that rude guy I mentioned above.
Veron and I encountered a few drunkards too who were very friendly lol. Relax they didn't do anything to us but it's just that they kept engaging us in small talk which frankly speaking, I wasn't really interested in. =P
And there was once when I accidentally gave the wrong directions to an ang moh who was in a hurry to catch the race(oh look! another rude ang moh *rolleyes*).
He wanted to get to Pit Grandstand A10 and I was stationed at Turn One Grandstand A10.
I asked for his pass and the blur me didn't notice he had his thumb covering a part of it. He kept asking me to hurry up too so I forgot to check whether it's the correct stand. All I noticed was the A10. So I gave him the go-ahead and directed him up the stairs.
My usher friends on top said he was in the wrong place so he came back and
corrected me. And here I thought he was in a hurry but nooooooo.
The funny thing was he decided that although he was anxious enough earlier, he was not in a hurry now to complain to me. >.>
and before he left, he made the crazy gesture to me..you know the action whereby you draw circles in the air at the side of your head? Yeah that.
I WAS MAJORLY PISSED OFF. So when his back was facing me, I pointed the middle finger at him.
I don't care if I'm rude. He was rude to me first.
It's my fault I know but there's no need to be so disrespectful to another human being. Plus I already apologized. What more does he want? Me to fucking beg on my knees for his forgiveness?
Even though it's my job and you're filthy rich,
FUCKING HAVE SOME BASIC RESPECT.
DO YOU NEED AN 18-YEAR OLD TO TEACH YOU, AN ADULT HOW TO BEHAVE?...
Sorry for the rant.
Anyway as I was saying, all these seem to have disappeared when the smiling guy thanked us after the photo. I was really really happy. No amount of words could describe the glee I felt. I had vowed never to enter the service industry after meeting rude people like this at F1. But maybe I can reconsider that since here's
a guy who appreciates our services.
Maybe there's still a shred of hope left for the
ugly people living in this world.
The finishing line.
